Just 20 minutes south of Denver, Castle Rock has become a city with multiple personalities. The town is named for its can´t-miss rock outcropping, which resembles a European castle. The natural signpost has served throughout history as a landmark for Native Americans to early settlers - not mention modern travelers. In the spirit of rocks, many rock climbers find this area´s geological features a playground full of excellent routes. An extensive trail system surrounds town, and excellent recreation areas like Castlewood Canyon State Park and Pike National Forest are just miles away. Nearby Castle Pines Golf Course, a beautiful and challenging venue, is the PGA International Golf Tournament´s only stop in Colorado (each August). And with over 100 name-brand stores offering deep discounts, the Castle Rock Factory Shops are another popular draw here.

The community concentrates on maintaining open space so all can enjoy its beauty. Large tracks of land have been set aside for parks, trails and the city completed a full service recreational facility in 1988. Eight miles west of Castle Rock, covering over one-third of Douglas
County is
Pike National Forest, featuring magnificent canyons, hiking, camping, picnics and trout fishing.

Castle Rock, Colorado, named for the distinctive rock formation that overlooks the town, is a vibrant community located midway between Denver and Colorado Springs. Despite its tremendous growth in the past decades, the town has kept its small town charm. There are approximately 3,000 new residents per year who are drawn to Castle Rocks rolling hills and beautiful vistas.

The population of Castle Rock is expected to nearly double in the next five years, and why not? Castle Rock is a prime location for individuals looking for both a rural/country residential setting and relatively easy access to major employment centers. The town is situated 30 miles south of downtown Denver, 20 miles from the Denver Technological Center (DTC) and 35 miles north of Colorado Springs. Castle Rock's close proximity to these urban centers, clean environment, natural beauty of the Colorado foothills and its accessibility to a wide range of recreational amenities make our town an attractive residential community

With a prime location, affordable housing (relative to other nearby towns) stunning natural beauty in the area, excellent schools, world-class shopping and dining, and some of the best new golf courses in the country.

In the Town of Castle Rock, you'll find over one hundred outlet stores, countless specialty boutiques in historic downtown and, of course, plenty of local shopping centers and super stores.

Castle Rock's retail districts include historic Wilcox Square, Village Shopping Center, Plum Creek Center, Mile-Stone Center, Wal-Mart Super Center and The Outlets at Castle Rock. A free, handicap-accessible shuttle is available to all of our major shopping areas. The shuttle even makes stops at area restaurants and lodging facilities in case you need to grab a bite or, perhaps, stay for another shopping day.

Castle Rock also offers several cultural events, The Castle Rock Art Fest, The Castle Rock Wine Fest, The International PGA Tour and The Renaissance Fair.

The city´s largest event each summer is Elephant Rock, an epic, 100-mile bike tour around Colorado, which begins and ends in Castle Rock.
